Star Anise

A beautiful spice that is used as much for decoration as it is for flavor. Star anise is a sweet, licorice-scented spice with notes of fennel and anise. It has been cultivated for thousands of years and is used in Indian, Chinese and Southern Asian cuisines. Add it whole to stews, soups (pho) and roasts or remove and grind the seeds for use in desserts and sauces.
